Invented in the USA, Patent Filed in India

The Offshore Outsourcing World Blog has a posting today titled Invented in US, Drafted in India, on trends in outsourcing patent applications to India.
The bottom line:
Cost of filing a patent in the USA : about $15,000 to $20,000
Cost of filing the same patent in India : about $4,000
Number of patents being filed in the USA each year : +/- 500,000. At $4,000 per patent application, that could translate into $12 billion worth of IP work being outsourced to India by 2016. (This if law firm Fish & Richardson's estimate of about 60% of all US legal work of this nature being done in India within a decade is correct.)
