My friend and colleague Ed Wesemann has a posting on his blog Creating Dominance, titled Milking a Cash Cow, that is well worth a read. It draws on the Boston Consulting Group matrix to analyze the different services that law firms offer, focusing in particular on how to get the most out of services where the firm is very strong, but market share is stagnating. In other words, the firm's 'cash cows.'
